His paternal grandmother was Sajida Sultan, Begum of Bhopal and his great-uncle was Pakistani general Nawabzada Sher Ali Khan Pataudi. His mother is the head of the Indian film censorship board and a relative of the Nobel laureate - Rabindranath Tagore, and also distant relative of the late Nafisa Joseph.

Saif Ali Khan in controversies: Charged with blackbuck poaching in 1998, he is recently seen flaunting his relationship with Kareena Kapoor, which is being seen as a publicity stunt.
